Strongly committed teams: a theory from philosophy applied to my latest LeSS flip

We will introduce the theory of "joint commitment" as the basis for social phenomena, as proposed by philosopher Margaret Gilbert. We'll see how powerfully simple her definition of commitment is, reasoning our way to a few powerfully practical guidelines on how to establish, observe and reinforce commitment, helping the journey to real teamwork and self-management. Choice and self-determination turn out to be key, meaning that management and coaches have a very specific role to play.
These guidelines were applied at my latest LeSS flip when new teams were formed at various stages. This case study helped to fine-tune the guidelines and discover a few important nuances.
This talk builds on a session from the Open Space from last year's LeSS conference in Madrid. I look forward to sharing my new findings with such an expert audience, hoping to discover some new insights together.
